Embedded Proposal Support

A funding agency soliciting applications from MSIs and ERIs embeds the NORDP Consultants Program in the application process to provide coaching and proposal development services to support the submission of competitive proposals.

Focus

Proposal development services during an application cycle.

Primary Activities

Consultation for up to one year (or until proposal submission) to include identifying key personnel, developing, and maintaining a proposal development schedule, developing budgets, connecting teams to institutional resources and data, drafting portions of an application, collecting supplemental documents, developing figures, organizing reviews, revising and editing proposal documents, and preparing the submission package.

Funding

External support secured by the NORDP Consultant program. Current support provided by NSF ITE-2303003 and ITE- 2350104.

Eligibility

Determined by the funding agency. Recent examples include: • NSF’s Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) program. • NSF’s Advancing Research Capacity at HBCUs through Exploration and Innovation (ARC-HBCU)

Consultation with “Budget Doctors” who are experienced research administrators who lead an iterative process to ensure the development of feasible budgets. A toolkit that provides standardized writing templates with guidance to thoroughly complete the proposal.
